Nomad, Marrakech

Nestled within the depths of the Souks, behind a discreet little door just off of Rahba Lakdima, sits Nomad.

The once carpet shop has been transformed into 4 floors of stunning restaurant serving the most delicious modern Moroccan food.


We took a table beneath the festoon lights on the roof terrace, complete with blankets and glowing heaters.

If you’re looking for a contemporary spin on Marrakech’s most famous dishes then Nomad is the place to eat.

(Sadly the lighting means your food photos wont turn out that great, but who cares when it all tastes so good?!)


We started with an array of traditional small plates.

Vegetable soup – tomato, lentil and chickpea based with subtle, warming spices.


Vegetable Pastilla – thin, filo like pastry stuffed with soft vegetables and goats cheese (a little bit like a Moroccan pasty. As pastry lovers, this was one of our favourites!).

Courgette and Feta Fritters – the general favourite of the table. Light, but packed with flavour and served with a moreish minted yoghurt.

The Nomad Burger – spiced lamb, caramelized onion, aubergine and harissa mayonnaise. Chicken Brochettes with almond couscous, courgettes and home made harissa sauce.


Followed by the star of the show – Lamb Tagine with sweet prunes and flaked almonds, served with buttery barley. The meat was so tender it fell off the bone and the fragrant sauce bought the scents of the spice stalls downstairs to life.



If you visit Marrakech, book yourself a table. Ask for one outside on the terrace and prepare for a Moroccan feast.
