The last few weeks have flown by in a blur of hectic working weeks and jam packed weekends. I can’t believe it’s almost July! This one is a jumble of some things that have made me happy amidst the madness.
A few weeks ago we spent the weekend back in the West Country. Unfortunately my Grandad is really unwell and so we headed back to spend some much needed time with family. The Friday night consisted of amazing barbequed burgers at my Mum’s house followed by american pancakes for breakfast; and the Saturday was spent at my Dad’s restaurant, eating and drinking enough to feed a small army.
I think if I had to choose one thing to eat for the rest of my life it would be my dad’s pizza. I know I’m 100% biased, but they really are the best.
Unusually for me, I went to the cinema twice in the past two weeks. The first visit was to allow Wayne to indulge in his childish love of Dinosaurs, and the second to fuel my unnatural obsession with anything romcom/musical based. Jurassic World was great. I love the Jurassic Park films (definitely not as much as Wayne – I was a little surprised when the toy dinosaur from EBay arrived in the post and realised it hadn’t been sent to the wrong house) and I thought it was a brilliant lead on from the other films. Also, Chris Pratt. Need I say more?! Pitch Perfect 2 was amazing! It was fun, it was funny, and the soundtrack was on point. If you loved the first one there is no doubt that you will adore the second.
A friend of mine received some amazing news last week and I couldn’t be more exited for her. Although she hasn’t shared the news with many people yet, just knowing that she is one step closer to making her dreams a reality makes me so, so happy.
I had sort of forgotten about my love for risotto until I had a sudden craving for it last week. I threw together a quick mushroom risotto for dinner one evening and now I have all sorts of plans for risotto combinations. The beauty of risotto is that you can add pretty much anything you fancy, making it the perfect base for creating an exciting midweek meal with anything you have sitting in the fridge.
Fruit for Breakfast
There’s nothing like the sunshine to give you a little boost of energy and a desire to keep things fresh and healthy. I’ve been living off of a combination of granola, Greek yoghurt and blueberries for breakfast, and making my way through a pile of strawberries every day.
Am I the only one who gets incredibly exited over Tupperware? It’s a definite sign that we’re getting old, but I’m not afraid to admit that I let out a little yelp of joy when I found this tub on the shelf at Waitrose. It’s the perfect size for granola and yoghurt breakfasts and has a handy little divider to stop your granola getting soggy. I’ve been using it on the mornings when I don’t have time to eat breakfast before work and I just love it. (I can’t believe I just wrote a whole paragraph about a plastic tub!)
Sundays in London
A couple of weeks ago we spent the day in London with my Dad and it was hilarious. It’s always so much fun being all together and we did nothing but eat, drink and laugh all day. I’ve already written about our amazing lunch experience and the rest of the afternoon was spent drinking cocktails, wandering along the Kings Road and eating the most delicious tiramisu gelato form Amorino.
I hope everyone has been enjoying the sunshine!
